A Gift for Our Mother is a campaign initiated in 2014 by Terra Sancta Ministries, a Catholic Lay Association of the Faithful operating under the authority of the Archbishop of Detroit. The campaign serves as the vehicle by which Terra Sancta Ministries sought to first acquire, and secondly restore and maintain, the property at 400 South Blvd. West, on which lies St. Joseph Chapel and Shrine of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the purposes of spiritual renewal. Through God’s grace and the financial, spiritual and practical assistance of volunteers, Terra Sancta Ministries acquired the property on the Solemnity of the Annunciation, March 25, 2015, and has undertaken many restoration projects over the past two years. But much work still remains, and with generous donations by individuals like yourself, we hope to continue to breathe new life into a Catholic church that was once closed but is now re-opened!
This is now our ministry’s home. Beginning on May 13, 2017, the 100th Anniversary of Blessed Mother’s first apparition at Fatima, Portugal, we are offering Holy Mass on Tuesdays and Saturdays, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, prayer of the Holy Rosary, First Friday and First Saturday devotions, and more at St. Joseph Chapel. In nice weather, the outdoor grounds will provide a peaceful place for people to sit and pray and be inspired by the beautiful statuary as well as allow on special occasion, celebration of an outdoor Mass.
The historic Shrine of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a reminder to all of the great love our Blessed Mother has for each of us. It is an open invitation and call to prayer to Our Lady, who leads us all closer to Christ. Ad Jesum per Miriam!
